Board of Directors’ Meeting Minutes

South Wood County Rec. Center

July 31, 2006

 

 

Attendance:     The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by President, Dave Steinhilber.  Board Members present were Candy Blakeslee, Eileen Hillila, Daniel Janik, Doug Kreuser, Kelly Lamb, Carmella Lyp, Jane Overfelt, Lynn Schroer, and Dave Steinhilber.  Bernie Esselman and Jess Yenter were absent.  Guest: Tim McNaughton

 

Tournaments: Gail Prochnow and Dan Paulsen were present to discuss tournaments for the 2006-07 season.  Proposed tournaments are Bantam A & B: Dec. 8, 9, 10; Squirt A & B:  Jan. 20, 21; PeeWee A & B:  Feb. 2, 3, 4; Mini Mite Jamboree: Feb. 24; Mite A & B:  March 10, 11.  The girls U12 and U14 teams will not have a tournament this year on our ice because Stevens Point already has one scheduled.  With the co-op, this is considered a home tournament for the girls.  We will be alternating years with Point so next year’s tournament will be held in Wisconsin Rapids. 

 

Deb Edwards has agreed to be this year’s tournament director.  Dan Paulsen will oversee the PeeWee tournament and Gail Prochnow will oversee the Squirt tournament.  We will look for volunteers to oversee the rest of the tournaments.  Costs were also set for each tournament:  Bantam- $475, PeeWee- $450, Squirt- $400, Mite- $325, and Mini Mite- $100. 

 

Rec. Center

History:            Gary Phillips and Jim Shewchuk were present to discuss the history of the SWC Rec Center.  Their goals and ideas for the future were also discussed.

                       

President’s

Report:            Dave Steinhilber introduced Tim McNaughton who is interested in filling the open Board position. Tim’s nomination was voted on and approved M2 (Janik/Blakeslee).  Registration was discussed.  Next year a late fee will be assessed to those skaters not registered by a given date.  Discussion was held on handling sensitive e-mail sent to Board members. The e-mail and response will be held on file. 

 

Fundraising:    The SWCYHA Golf Outing was discussed.   Advertising will be done in the Daily Tribune and on Public Access TV.  40 teams of four will be able to play in this outing held at Bull’s Eye Country Club.  Many donations have been collected throughout the community.  The Board is donating golf bags as a prize.

 

Concessions: Renee Kollock has resigned from her position as co-concessions manager.  The Board is looking for interested parties to take over her position.

 

Merchandise:  Melissa Arts and Carmella Lyp will be handling the sales of SWCYHA apparel this year.

 

Website:          Lori Steinhilber attended a meeting with the Steven’s Point web site manager to help our association update the website.  She will be meeting with Jim Kollock and Candy Blakeslee to share what she has learned.

 

The next meeting has been scheduled for Monday, August 21, 2006, 6:30 PM, at the South Wood County Rec. Center
