Board of Directors’ Meeting Minutes

South Wood County Rec. Center

June 5, 2006

 

 

Attendance:     The meeting was called to order at 6:16 PM by President, Dave Steinhilber.  Board Members present were Candy Blakeslee, Eileen Hillila, Daniel Janik, Kelly Lamb, Carmella Lyp, Jane Overfelt, Lynn Schroer, Dave Steinhilber, and Jess Yenter.  Doug Kreuser arrived at 8:00 PM.  Bernie Esselman was absent.

 

 Minutes:          The minutes were approved for the January 9 and March 6 meetings. M2 (Steinhilber/Lamb) 

 

President’s

Report:            Dave Steinhilber reported that Dennis Wenker will not be overseeing the referees this season.  A replacement is needed.  He also reported that the spring track meets were a success.  Approximately $2200 was earned through concession monies.  The Shrine Circus rented the rink on June 15 and 16.

Vice

President’s

Report:            Daniel Janik reported that Mike Gulenchyn is working on a proposal for the mite program for the upcoming season. They will be working with the Central Wisconsin Mite League.  They would again like to utilize Saturday mornings for games and practices.

Secretary’s

Report:            Jane Overfelt reported that letters are being sent to families that have not fulfilled their volunteer hours.

 

Registration:    Registration is being held at the rink from 6:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, July 12; Monday, July 17; and Sunday, July 23.  All skaters will be required to pay a $50 registration fee per skater at this time.

 

WR Parade:    The Wisconsin Rapids parade will be on Sunday, June 25, 2006.  Carmella Lyp and committee have put a float together.  Skaters will be riding on the float or rollerblading alongside.  They will be handing out fliers advertising SWCYHA.

 

Paid

Positions:        Much discussion was held regarding paid positions within our organization.  Because of the loss of revenue in our association, it is felt that changes may need to be made.  (Due to the conflict of interests, Candy Blakeslee and Kelly Lamb were not present during this discussion.)  A proposal was made to not pay any volunteer positions except those requiring certification. M/2 (Yenter/Hillila) Not approved1-7.  Another proposal was then brought to the table.  The motion was made to compensate volunteer positions not requiring certification one skater’s registration fee not to exceed $500. M/2 (Kreuser/Yenter) Appoved 6-2.  Compensation for paid position’s requiring certification will be discussed at a later date.

 

The next meeting has been scheduled for Monday, July 10, 2006, 6:30 PM, at the South Wood County Rec. Center

 

Motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:47 PM. M/2 (Steinhilber/Lamb) Carried.
