SOUTH WOOD COUNTY YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Board of Directors’ Meeting Minutes South Wood County Rec. Center May 7, 2006
Attendance: The meeting was called to order at 6:37 PM by President, Dave Steinhilber. Board Members present were Candy Blakeslee, Bernie Esselman, Jennifer Esselman, Eileen Hillila, Daniel Janik, Doug Kreuser, Kelly Lamb, Carmella Lyp, Jane Overfelt, Lynn Schroer, Dave Steinhilber, and Jess Yenter.
President’s Report: Dave Steinhilber reported that the SWC Rec. Center’s entrance doors and concession stand will be rekeyed. He also reported that a policy is being looked at for guests who attend the SWCYHA Board meetings. Steinhilber stated that the high school track meet held on Friday, May 5, 2006 brought in over $930 in concession money. There will be another track meet on Thursday, May 25, 2006. Concession workers are needed.
Registration: Discussion was held on a registration letter to be sent out to existing skaters. Each player is being asked to pay a $50 registration deposit to cover USA Hockey insurance. The Board is developing a payment plan for families to choose whether to pay their skater fees in full by October 1 or in two payments, October 1 and December 1. There will be a late fee assessed to players not paying by December 1 unless an arrangement with the President has been made prior to this date. Skaters delinquent in their payments will not be allowed on the ice after December 1 until their payments are made in full.
WIAA Girls: Chip Lacasse reported on the status of the WIAA Girls’ Team. The team has been approved by the WRPS Board. The SWC Rec. Center has agreed to donate nine hours of ice time per month to the WIAA Girls’ Team. They will receive 1 ½ hours every other week and 3 hours on the alternate weeks. Kelly Lamb is looking into how this schedule will work. Lacasse asked that SWCYHA handle the girls’ registration so that they are insured by USA Hockey. SWCYHA will be reimbursed by the booster club. The booster club will be handling all of the other expenses for this team. Discussion was held on volunteer hours and ice time for games. The WIAA Girls’ Team will need to buy ice from SWCYHA for games and tournaments. Tentatively, a one-day tournament is being set for Saturday, December 2, 2006. They are asking for two more home games, times and dates to be determined. Candy Blakeslee will coordinate with the necessary parties. The WIAA Girls’ Team is requesting monies received from home game admissions and SWCYHA will receive proceeds from concessions. These along with other WIAA Girls’ Team requests will be reviewed and discussed at a separate meeting with SWCYHA.
WR Parade: Carmella Lyp will work on getting a group together to be a part of the Wisconsin Rapids parade on Saturday, June 24, 2006.
School Fliers: Fliers advertising SWCYHA will be sent to the Wisconsin Rapids schools in early fall.
Concessions: Discussion was held regarding guidelines in the concession stand. A list of duties for the concession manager was reviewed. Deposits from the concession stand will be made nightly.
Committees: Board members reviewed the SWCYHA committees. Appointments were made for a majority of the committees. More discussion will be held at the next meeting. The Board will be looking for volunteers within the organization to fill some of the committees.
