Board of Directors’ Meeting Minutes

South Wood County Rec. Center

April 23, 2007

 

Attendance:     The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by President, Dave Steinhilber.  Board Members present were Candy Blakeslee, Bernie Esselman, Eileen Hillila, Daniel Janik, Jane Overfelt, Dan Paulsen, Lynn Schroer, and Dave Steinhilber.  Kelly Lamb was absent. 

New Officers: The new Board Members, Jay Capelle, Jenni Derks, and Jay Prochnow were introduced.  Mike Gulenchyn was absent.  The floor was then opened to officer nominations.  The new officers elected were:  Dan Paulsen, President; Dan Janik, Vice-President; Jay Capelle, Treasurer; and Jane Overfelt, Secretary.  A vote was taken for the Vice-President position in which both Daniel Janik and Bernie Esselman were interested.  Jenni Derks abstained from the vote. 

                        Four of the new Board positions are three-year terms and one is a two-year term.  Dan Paulsen requested the two-year position.  A motion was made to honor this request. M2 (Janik/Hillila) Approved. 

Software

Update:           Dan Houtari is ready to present the prototype software system he has been working on for SWCYHA.  The Board will meet with him on Friday, April 27 at 7:00 to go over the software and ask any pertinent questions.  

Website:          Mark Hagen has agreed to put the SWCYHA website together.  The goal is to have it up and running by registration this summer.  He is looking into and evaluating other websites.  The goal is to have the website is to improve the lines communication for all of our members.                       

Codes of

Conduct:         All Board members present read through, signed, and dated the SWCYHA Board Code of Conduct.  These are in effect for the 2007-08 season.  Jane Overfelt collected these forms and will keep them on file.

Summer

Camp:             John Hanzlik is working on the Red Raider summer hockey league.  Craig Dakins is in the process of working on a summer camp.  Evening hours for the camp are being considered, it may be more convenient for the members.  Flyers including times and days will posted soon. 

Shooting

Clinic:              Pat McDonald is running a shooting clinic on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00pm to 9:00pm in the SWC Rec. Center.  This is open to players of all ages. 

Volunteer

Hours:             Concession help is needed in May.  There are three track meets in May that can be used as volunteer hours.  Those members who have not completed their hours for the 2006-07 season should strongly consider working at one of these events, it helps the whole association.  Families who have not completed their volunteer hours are being contacted via E-mails and phone calls.  $20 per hour will be charged to families who do not meet the requirement for the 2006-07 season. 

Golf

Scramble:       The golf scramble has tentatively been set at Bull’s Eye Country Club on Saturday, September 8.  SWCYHA is looking for parties interested in heading up this fundraising activity.  Discussion is going on with the WIAA booster club to possibly work together on the golf outing this year.

 

WIAA Girls:     A motion was made for SWCYHA to donate the ice time for all six of the Girls’ WIAA games held at the SWC Rec. Center during the inaugural 2006-07 season.  M2 (Blakeslee/Paulsen) Approved. 

Rec. Center

Meeting:          The Rec. Center received a check from the insurance company for projected revenues lost from the ice out and repairs during the fall of 2006.  The Rec. Center Treasurer is in the process of dividing up the money.  A reimbursement check will be coming to SWCYHA soon.

                        The Zamboni is expected to arrive by July 1.  This has been a $100,000 investment in which SWCYHA invested $20,000.

 A new soda contract is currently being presented and being reviewed by the by the Rec. Center.

 

Concessions:  Gary Campbell, Julie Schanan, and Deb Franz are putting together a proposal to purchase or lease a ventless fryer for serving chicken nuggets, French fries, etc. in the concession stand.

 

The next meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, 2007, 7:00 PM, at the South Wood County Rec. Center.
