SOUTH WOOD COUNTY YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Board of Directors’ Meeting Minutes Eileen Hillila’s Home February 26, 2007
Attendance: The meeting was called to order at 7:20 PM by President, Dave Steinhilber. Board Members present were Candy Blakeslee, Bernie Esselman, Eileen Hillila, Doug Kreuser, Tim McNaughton, Jane Overfelt, Lynn Schroer, and Dave Steinhilber. Daniel Janik, Kelly Lamb, and Dan Paulsen were absent.

President’s Report: Dave Steinhilber reported that the WIAA season is complete for the boys’ and the girls’ teams. Congratulations to both teams on successful seasons. Thanks to SWCYHA members for helping throughout the season as staff personnel and in the concession stand. Compliments were given from Bill Vickroy, LHS athletic director, during the post season for the association’s excellent work. Steinhilber also reported that ice will be going out on Monday, April 2. Steinhilber thanked Tammi Jepson on behalf of SWCYHA for her exceptional service as bookkeeper for the past two years. She has resigned this position as of April 1, 2007. The deadline for a 2009 WAHA State Tournament bid is April 1, 2007. The software development system being designed by Dan Houtari is almost ready to go. We should be able to try it out in the very near future. Steinhilber reported that the wireless system is now up and running. A big thank you to Dave Barber for his help with this project.
Treasurer’s Report: Discussion was held on this season’s budget and profit-loss margin. Projections look like we will come out on the plus-side this year. The main reason for the positive profit is the fundraising. The insurance claim from the loss of ice time in November is still in the process. WIAA coaches salaries will be paid on March 8.
Board Elections: The deadline for SWCYHA Board nomination forms is Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 pm. Currently one person has submitted a form. Voting will begin on March 15th and will conclude at the end-of-the-year banquet on Friday, April 13th at The Wildhorse. This banquet will be a pizza buffet. A 50/50 raffle will take the place of the traditional baskets. Reservation forms will be included in the March Newsletter.
Summer Camp: Summer camp will be held the week of July 23rd. SWCYHA has contracted ice from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm this week. More details will be coming.
Game Jerseys: SWCYHA’s game jerseys have been discontinued by the company. New jerseys and a new logo are being looked at as a possibility for the 2007-08 season. A contest is going to be held for a new logo.
Track Meets: LHS track meets will be held on May 4th, May 15th, and May 21st. Help from the association will be solicited through the newsletter.
Children’s Festival: Patty Weinfurter will be setting up a booth for SWCYHA at the Children’s Festival on Saturday, April 21st. The purpose of this is to try to get kids interested in hockey. She is looking for others who might be interested in helping her out. A motion was made to reimburse Patty Weinfurter the $10 she paid to set up this booth as she represents the association. 2007-08 Registration: All payments for the 2007-08 season will be paid in full prior to try-outs (excluding WIAA Boys) unless a Family Needs form is submitted to the Board. The first payment will be due on August 1st. Rates will be decided on at a later date.
Codes of Conduct: A motion was made to approve the Board Code of Conduct which will be enforced beginning April 13, 2007. M2 (Overfelt/Esselman) Approved. The Parents Code of Conduct and the Coaches Code of Conduct are being reviewed and will be approved via proxy.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Monday, March 26, 2007, 7:00 PM, at the South Wood County Rec. Center.
